This year, Heart of Indiana United Way celebrates 100 years of service—one hundred years of neighbors helping neighbors, of generosity and resilience shaping stronger communities across Madison County and beyond. Since 1925, United Way has been a bridge—connecting those who can help with those who need it most.
From our very first campaign to the vibrant workplace campaigns happening across Madison, Delaware, Henry, Randolph and Fayette Counties, one truth has withstood the test of time: when we unite, we can overcome anything. Through prosperity and hardship, these communities show up for one another.
That same spirit is alive and well in Madison County today. Local businesses and organizations are running their United Way campaigns, raising funds to help families thrive. And in this special anniversary year, we’re inviting even more people to get involved—by giving, volunteering, or joining our 100th Birthday Workplace Challenge to add a little extra fun to the campaign season.
Every dollar raised stays hard at work in our local communities, supporting programs and partnerships that change lives. Together with a network of local nonprofits, we’re focusing on four key goals:
- Helping children and youth succeed in school and life.
- Supporting people in building financial stability.
- Strengthening health and well-being.
- Creating resilient, connected communities.
Last fiscal year, 110,202 community members across the region received support from our funded programs. In addition to grants, your gifts also fund Heart of Indiana United Way’s direct impact work—from Covering Kids and Families, which connects children and adults to health insurance, to Operation Weatherization, which helps households lower utility costs and stay warm through the winter. And through Read United, volunteers are helping students in Anderson’s elementary schools strengthen their reading skills and develop a lifelong love of reading.
In celebration of a century of impact, we invite you to help by joining the Next 100 Club—and either give your first gift of $100 or increase your annual gift by $100. Donors who want to ensure Heart of Indiana United Way is ready for whatever comes next can make a special gift to the Next Century Fund providing support for this year—and to an endowment to support those unknown challenges ahead. Thank you to every donor, volunteer, and partner who’s made this century of impact possible. You are the heart of United Way—and together, Madison County will lead the way into the next 100 years.
